While a family history or genetic makeup does increase your chances of developing that disease or illness at some point in time, it’s not a certainty. Foods that Fight Cancer

Of course eating a healthy diet rich in nutrients, vitamins, and minerals is always important. You may also find too that certain foods specifically prevent cancer altogether. Foods Rich in Folate: If you happen to be low in folate levels, this is when certain mutations can develop within your DNA. This is also when cancer is more likely to develop. Therefore eating foods rich in folate such as orange juice, dried beans, spinach, romaine, and of course certain breakfast cereals prevent cancer from developing.
Vitamin D: Though it works well as a supplement all on its own, it happens to be excellent for you in the food that you eat as well. Vitamin D is believed to curb the growth of cancerous cells altogether. It fights cancer. Those foods that are rich in Vitamin D include: milk, eggs, shrimp, and cod.
Tea: Though many different types of tea happen to work well, green tea is usually the very best for you. When you sip a cup of tea, you are also consuming some excellent and very important antioxidants. The antioxidants found in a cup of tea help to act as a sort of shield in the body against any cancerous cells, and may even help to fight off cancer cells.
Ginger: We’ve known for quite some time that ginger is good for any sort of stomach ailments that may come about. It also happens to fight off cancer in a couple of different ways. Ginger ensures that any cancer cells that may enter the body literally destroy themselves. It also happens to prevent cancer cells from entering at all, making it a very important food in the battle against cancer.
Cruciferous Vegetables: There’s a reason that you were always told to eat your vegetables, particularly this type. The substances released as you crunch and chew on cruciferous vegetables act as a preventative shield against cancer cells. When you think of these types of vegetables they should include: cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, brussel sprouts, and kale.
Eating the right foods and maintain an overall clean and healthy life can really work wonders towards cancer prevention. Though the diet that you keep in general may work well, you will quickly find that certain foods stand head and shoulders above the rest. These will help to fight cancer and keep you healthy, no matter what your family history is.
